Witnessing History

February 3, 2017

Pat and I enjoyed celebrating the presidential inauguration with longtime friends Dan and Marsha Coats.

A few weeks ago, my wife Pat and I had the opportunity to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience when we traveled to Washington D.C. to watch the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. We also attended one of the inauguration balls.

As some of you may know, President Trump has chosen my longtime friend Dan Coats to be the National Director of Intelligence. Pat and I made the trip to support Dan and Marsha Coats, and I have to say that it was among the most memorable experiences of my life! What a joy to witness the pomp and circumstance surrounding the inauguration, an event steeped with ritual and tradition.

Prior to our visit, Dan had shared my book, Discover Your Next Best Step: 10 Proven Principles of Servant LeaderShip Wisdom, with several of his colleagues. Then, while we were in Washington D.C., I had a chance to share a few copies with people I met along the way. What an honor! When I first set out to write this book, I never could have imagined the numerous opportunities I would have to connect with so many others!
